چکیده

Earthen constructions can experience severe damage under coupled action of moistening and freezing-thawing (F-T). This paper proposes an experimental study on the F-T behavior earthen samples at different liquid saturation degrees (SL0). Normal moisture conditions during winter were investigated using two values relative humidity (RH): RH = 75% 95% which led to levels lower than 35% for tested earth. Pathological walls studied with high (SL0 75%, SL0 85% 95%). Axial strain temperature measured 12 cycles conducted between +10 ∘C − 20 ∘C. An device was designed maintain axial stress 0 or 100 kPa test reproduce loading top basement wall. The measurement strains shows that did not exhibit any effect normal conditions. results indicated deformations depend mainly initial saturation. A microstructural approach identify necessary in porous materials. Shrinkage freezing expansion thawing observed range this study. mechanism attributed drying shrinkage clay particles due cryo-suction process ice formation. significantly increased residual developed first cycles. Two creep tests +20 concluded induced a combined unsaturated

Experimental study of postmortem change under field conditions: effects of freezing, thawing, and mechanical injury.

Understanding the processes of postmortem change in biologic systems is important to the forensic sciences. Previous experimental studies of postmortem change in animals under field conditions made use of animal carcasses that had been incidentally exposed to the effects of freezing and thawing or mechanical damage, or both, and were limited to gross observations. The current study was designed...

study of freezing and thawing cycles influence on durability of stablized eolian sand sediment

with considerable dispersion in many areas of the world sediments are among the most important sediments in deserted environments. a stabilization method for this type of beds is making use of the setting property of natural pozzolana in the vicinity of lime. these soils have little strength, both in natural humidity as well as in full saturation conditions. their dispersion in many areas of th...

Effects of multiple freezing and refrigerator thawing cycles on the quality changes of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

The freezing-thawing effect on the meat quality of whole, gutted and fillets of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were investigated. It was aimed to investigate the changes in the meat quality of whole, gutted and fillets of sea bass in multiple frozen (-18±2ºC) and thawed cycles in refrigerated conditions (4±2°C). The meat quality assessment of the sea bass groups (whole, gutted and fillets) sub...

An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Freezing of Pure Aluminum

In this work, Boltzmann transform has been used to analyze the problem of freezing of pure Aluminum in semi-infinite domain. The uniqueness of solution (solidification front location) has been proved using the characteristics of the functions appeared in solution. The effect of density change on temperature distribution and errors resulting from ignoring this change have been investigated. The ...

Ultrasonic monitoring of fish thawing process optimal time of thawing and effect of freezing/thawing.

INTRODUCTION Fish quality is traditionally controlled by chemical and microbiological analysis. The non-destructive control presents an enormous professional interest thanks to the technical contribution and precision of the analysis to which it leads. This paper presents the results obtained from a characterisation of fish thaw-ing process by the ultrasonic technique, with monitoring thermal p...
